Chapter 7: The mad hospital administrator

Back in the real world, the hospital administrator heard that another person had disappeared from his hospital. That made him mad. He tried to get a hold of Zuphixy but he got no answer, which just made him more angry.

In another part of town, the salesman did not understand how someone who just sat in a wheelchair could just vanish. He decided to phone the hospital to let them know that Doctor Zuphixy himself had vanished.

As Zuphixy was the only doctor in town over the Christmas break, they had no choice but to shut down the hospital. The hospital administrator had no choice but to put up a sign “Closed due to no doctors available. Please go to the nearest hospital”. Some people were upset that they had to drive forty five minutes to get to the next hospital. Others remembered how Zuphixy had disappeared when he was sixteen. They assumed that he would be back soon just like he did back then.

The nurses were saying to each other as they left the closed hospital, “Now how are we going to pay for all our Christmas gifts! Now that the hospital administrator has told us he is not paying us until Zuphixy comes back”. They could not hear each other well as the wind blew the words away. The cashier that ran the cafeteria of the hospital said, “I wonder what happened to that boy that streaked the hospital a few days ago?”

One of the workers that ran the laundry room in the hospital said “Oh well. We found some blue jeans and a bright orange t-shirt mixed with the bedding. Could that belong to him? I decided to take them home with the hospital being closed. He will not find them here” She holds them up for everybody to see. She unknowingly dropped his shirt in the snow on her way home. One of the nurses responded “Zuphixy told me that it was his son, and he has disappeared too!”.

The hospital administrator was thinking to himself, “What is the government going to think when they find out that I had a doctor and his family disappear from my hospital. I already had to report that two wheelchairs needed replacing which I understand Zuphixy was working on before he disappeared.”

Meanwhile the salesman decided to find out why wheelchairs keep disappearing. What he found was that the royal purple paint on the wheelchairs used a chemical that nobody has found yet. The salesman went to the wheelchair factory called Quzefuly Wheelchair Manufacturers, to see if anybody there knew more about the paint. All he got was that it is custom made by the original owners of the company and that it was a top secret mix. Seeing as no one there was going to give him anymore information, he had the one clue that the magic was connected to the Quzefuly family. That was a surprise for him to learn, as he also knew that the only people that vanished was the family. So why have a paint that only has them disappear instead of everyone? Because he has cleaned all the wheelchairs in the store and he has never vanished.

On his way home he saw a greenhouse full of red flowers which up to now he never paid attention to. Today when he saw a truck with the Quzefuly Wheelchair Manufacturers logo on it being loaded up, he was puzzled why they were putting flowers in a truck from the wheelchair factory. As he drove by the wind blew a flower into his car. When the flower touched the steel of his car the flowers changed from red to purple which is the only color of the chairs that vanish. At first he thought his car was going to vanish but nothing happened. Then he thought “Maybe it's because I'm not sitting in a wheelchair.”

The hospital administrator went to the wheelchair store. He pushed the door open with so much force that it broke off the hinges. He went to the first sales man demanding free new wheelchairs to replace the ones that vanished. The salesman there at that time didn't believe in magic so he said “Sorry man, no chair leaves this store without payment! Anyway they usually reappear after two weeks”. The hospital administrator grabs a wheelchair and leaves the store without paying for it. As he was leaving he claimed “I will return it if the other chairs appear!” Now with the door broken and not closeable snow started blowing into the store covering the chairs to look white.

Just then the other sales man came into the store with the flower that had flown into his car. When he saw the broken door and everything covered in snow he stopped in shock. He got right to work and fixed the door before helping the other salesman clean the chairs from the snow. It took the rest of the work day to clean everything up, but the chairs were so wet they could not sell them until they were replaced. It was decided that the hospital administrator would be billed for all the extra costs he had caused the store.

Now the hospital administrator was shocked to see a bill for a thousand chairs when he only took one. He only paid for the one chair he did take and for the broken door, everything else he refuses to pay for. The store had to take the hospital administrator to court to get him to pay for the other damages he coursed.
