Silla-Tierra
Book 3 of the mysterious wheelchair
Chapter 8: No more city in Silla-Tierra
News spread throughout Silla-Tierra that the ear men had managed to bulldoze the city. They only stopped when it was back to the size of the town that Zuphixy had first seen at sixteen. Instead of turning it back into the woods like it was, the ear men had planted a field of heart shaped flowers. Now the living wheelchairs were not happy that their city was gone. Some of the living wheelchairs demanded that the mayor step down. Others just wanted to give him time, as he had only been doing the job for a few weeks.
Now Zoofixy Jr., being the troublemaker that he is, decided to wheel over the flowers to kill them because he knew of the magic powers. He did not want their magic to send him back to the real world. He wanted to stay in Silla-Tierra with his family forever. He did not think it through as all that did was send him back to the real world. He finds himself in the basement of his Dad's hospital where he was streaking. Unknown to him the hospital was closed for eight hours by this time. When he couldn't find his clothes in the basement, he started running through the whole hospital only to find that the whole hospital was totally empty. As he was running he looked outside and saw his orange shirt laying in the snow.
Meanwhile back in Silla-Tierra his dad, Zuphixy, got wind of some living wheelchair wrecking the Ear men’s flower. When he got to the scene he saw the wheelchair tracks go right though part of the field, and then just stopped suddenly. He knew right away that the magic of the flowers had sent the wheelchair to a different world. He rushed off to tell the mayor what happened to the flowers. He was convinced it was his son as there were only three living wheelchairs that came from the real world.
He raced off to the mayor 's office. Unsure if it would be his father still or not. He was happy to find out his father was still the mayor and explained the situation that someone had destroyed the heart-shaped flowers.
Mr. Quzefuly rushed to the field and told his son “I will invent something to restore the flowers” just like his grandson, he followed the tracks to the field and the next thing he knew was that he was back the real world. He was sitting in a wheelchair looking out the door to a blizzard. He was no longer a living wheelchair, he was just some old man leaving a hospital. As he was trying to process what he was seeing, he saw his grandson standing beside him. Mr. Quzefuly was all bundled up ready to go out into the storm because last time he was in this hospital, they were about to discharge him after his hip surgery. As he was looking around to figure out where he was, he saw his grandson. He could tell that his grandson wasn’t dressed for the weather.
When Zoofixy Jr. looked at his grandfather, he gave the expression that told the grandfather that his grandson had no idea that he was not dressed. In fact, he seemed kind of happy about not being dressed.
As that was happening, back in Silla-Tierra Zuphixy ran home to let his wife know that both their son and his father had returned to the real world. Poupleten was shocked that her son would do that, as he knows the magic and exclaimed “Why would he do that? He likes it here better ever since we had left Silla-Tierra last time he just got himself in trouble.”
Just then the police chief, who doesn't know that Zuphixy is already on the case, comes busting through the door screaming that the Ear Men field is wrecked. “They are going to kidnap me over it. I came here because I can't find the mayor! You, Zuphixy, are the only one who is able to stop the ear men from destroying the living wheelchairs lives”
Zuphixy said to the police chief. “I'll go get him. I know where he went. I saw him leave.” Without another word he ran out of the house and back into the field knowing full well that he was going to go back to the real world. But he believed that he would land beside his grandfather, but instead he finds himself in an empty wheelchair store. Knowing the fact that he was transported to the other world was not a shock to him. What shocked him was that the store had six ft of snow in it.
Poupleten ran after Zuphixy trying to stop him from going to the other world, as she didn't want to be left behind in Silla-Tierra by herself. Even though this was her home land. Just like her husband, she ran into the field without thinking about it, and next thing she knew she was in a hospital bed with an eight hour old baby girl on her lap. She calls out for a nurse. “Help me!” Instead of a nurse coming, because the hospital has been closed for 8 hours, the next person she sees is her son naked. He ran into the room and told her that no one is here except for grandfather.
Zuphixy left the wheelchair store and took his car to the hospital. He did not know that the hospital was closed until he got to the door. He was about to go home when he saw Mr. Quzefuly in his wheelchair.
Mr. Quzefuly decided to ram his wheelchair into the door going backwards, hoping that will open the door enough to allow his son, the doctor in. Zuphixy, not realizing what his dad was doing, used his code to unlock the door.
The sound of the door scared everyone else and the baby started crying so Poupleten asked her son to check what's going on. Just as Zuphixy was wheeling into the hospital, Zoofixy Jr. comes running up to his grandfather yelling “What is all that noise!? you scared the baby!”
Zuphixy raced down the hall into the room where he heard the baby crying. He was not expecting to see his wife there. In his mind she was still in Silla-Tierra. Zuphixy gave commands to his son to grab all the necessary supplies they will need for the baby to bring the baby home. They have the baby wrapped up in blankets.
Zuphixy had left the car running as he first thought he would be leaving with Mr. Quzefuly soon. So everyone rushed to the car except Zoofixy Jr. He decided to snowboard home. The funny thing was he got home before the rest of his family. He was there long enough to get the house nice and warm. While his dad and the rest of the family drove the car around the block on a road that was normally two lanes. Because of the snow, only one lane was open. He had to keep stopping for cars going the other way.
Once everyone was safely home Mr. Quzefuly said “I have a Christmas gift sitting under my tree at my place! Can you get it Zoofixy Jr.?” Zoofixy Jr. was helping out in the house and said ok, thinking the gift was for him. He snowboarded over to his grandfather's place a block away and grabbed the gift and rushed back to open it up. As he was about to open it he realised it had his dad's name on it. Once opened by his dad, no one knew what it was. But his grandfather knew what it was.
The Grandfather explained as he attached it to Zuphixy’s chair, that the high tech uses AI to drive your chair to the exact location you mark on the map. Now Zoofixy Jr. who was upset that it was not for him, grabs it and tries to attach it to his snowboard. But as it was custom made for Zuphixy's chair he had no way to attach it. So he threw it back at his dad and dashed out into the snow. The control hit his dad in the chin, but Zoofixy Jr had been long gone by then.
Zoofixy Jr. had decided to spend the night in his grandfather's house by himself to think about everything that happened over the last few days. While Zuphixy was helping Purpleten care for the baby, as well as care for his dad who was recovering from hip surgery three days ago.
The next morning Zoofixy Jr who had not slept well, went home and surprised his family with breakfast and helped his grandfather with things while his dad helped his mom. No one noticed he was still not dressed, everyone was just focussed on the task at hand.
