Why is Halloween not the best day of the year?
In October thirty-first, Philippe was in school. He was writing in his note book, “They say Christmas is the best time of the year, but my favourite holiday is Halloween” This is because they get to dress up as their hero or at least someone they look up to. They also get to have more candy in one day then their parents allow them to have on any other day. But maybe you just don’t believe a boy who came from France, is blind and fat at the age of sixteen years old. Who smokes marijuana and also has tattoos on his arms. Then again maybe it is just that you don’t believe a boy with a rainbow mullet and has a nickname of trouble for the last six years. Instead why don’t you come along with me this evening and find out for yourself how much children like Halloween!”
When his teacher, Ms. Sakwra said, “Hey Philippe, what are you doing? You are not doing your math! From what I see, it looks like you're writing something other than the math that is on the white board!”
“Sorry, Ms. Speak-a-lot”. Philippe caught himself saying the wrong name and then said, “Sorry, I mean Ms. Sakwra”.
Ms. Sakwra responded, "You never call me anything other than Sakwra! now go to the...” Just then Sakwra’s voice synthesizer beeped that the batteries were almost dead and then it shut off. Just then the bell rang for the end of the day and the class bursts into a chant,
“Philippe the trouble maker got into trouble again!!”
Since the day was over, Sakwra left the room mad.
Now you are probably thinking Philippe got the nickname Trouble for all the trouble he caused in school, but he actually got it from his grandmother. When Philippe was just ten years old both of his parents could not take care of him so his grandparents took him in. His grandmother gave the
nickname to him when he had come home from the mall one day “unfairly” accused of shoplifting. Philippe thinks it is unfair because how can a boy who can’t see, shoplift an item he can not see. Philippe does have a point, but he could not explain why his grandfather had found an item in his bag that he had not paid for. Philippe’s only explanation was that it must have fallen in his bag by accident. Later that night the Police chief had taken Philippe and his grandparents to the police station, where the police officer showed his grandparents video of proof that Philippe had in fact done it. Philippe could not see the video because he was blind. Which, to Philippe meant he could not defend himself and ended up with being known as a shoplifter.
Now that school was out for the day, Philippe grabbed his skateboard and skateboarded to his grandparents place. On his way home, he did a bunch of tricks. Philippe was excited that he would be allowed to get a pillow case full of candy later. When Philippe got to his grandparent’s place where he lives, Philippe found out that he had to have supper before he could even think about going out trick-or-treating. But the food on his plate was his least liked food and he gagged at the taste.
Philippe thought to himself “Did she give me dog food? If I could see I would give this food to my dog.”
After he had tried to eat as much as he could, Philippe was allowed to go to his room and put on his prisoner costume. Which was the only costume that his Grandmother would let him have. Once he was dressed up, he texted his school friends to see if any of them could join him. As he waited for his friends he went out in the backyard and sat on the steps where Philippe lit a cigarette and smoked some marijuana until his friends came.
One of Philippe’s friends came from the Ukraine with the name Tory. Tory is a seventeen years old boy who has a red straight Mohawk and he always wears a pair of earnings. Tory is a paraplegic who was doing tricks in his wheelchair at the skateboard park when he got a text from Philippe. This made Tory lose control of his wheelchair and he fell out of his chair. Tory would have hit his head on the cement but because he was wearing a helmet he did not get hurt. Now because the fall scared Tory so bad and he has an eating problem, he started to have a seizure that lasted 5 min. Lucky for him his wheelchair landed a few feet beside him. After the seizure stopped, Tory managed to get back in his wheelchair by himself.
Another one of Philippe's friends is Maskwa. Maskwa was at home after school using her landline to call her new friend that she has never met.
Maskwa asked “What do you want to know about me?”
Her new friend said, “Anything you're willing to share.”
Maskwa replied “I am an Aboriginal fourteen year old girl, with long brown curly hair. When I was ten years old I had a bike accident where I broke my arms so badly that Doctor Zuphixy had to amputate both of my arms. I still get a lot of pain at the places that would be my arms, even though it is four years later. The pain makes me depressed and I used to try to eat my problems away. I am sad to say that I am now two hundred pounds. I also find that I can not seem to lose any weight without feeling hungry.
Maskwa thought to herself “Will my new friend even like me? The only person who has always been there for me is Philippe. I have known him since Kindergarten and I have had a crush on him for four years. I like going to the skate park with him and watching him do his fancy tricks with his skateboard. Sometimes it's hard to believe he’s blind with some of the tricks he can do. I don’t understand why adults keep saying that he is a trouble maker, he just knows how to have fun.”
Terry, Philippe’s grandfather, came home from work. He has a heart-shaped birthmark on his forehead and his hair is gray with a faux-hawk. Terry was muttering to himself “I wish that I never had moved away from France. Being someone that is only ten years from being one hundred, it is hard to remember not to talk to people in french. I also think life gives you happy times and sad times in life. My down point was when my daughter passed away when she gave birth to my grandson sixteen years ago. Then to add to that his Dad who works for the Army had to go to war which left us to take care of my grandson for the last Thirteen years. After the first year we had our grandson at our place we learned that he had gotten a parasite that left him blind. As Philippe got older he became more and more of a trouble maker. Whenever our grandson got in trouble it made me and my wife upset with him. I was hoping that things wouldn't get worse, but then a year ago my wife Olivia got diagnosed with Dementia. Afterwards, I started to notice that she seemed confused a lot and she kept forgetting to give our grandson his lunch for school. So I would have to drop his lunch off for him at school. I feel like I have to keep working as a tow truck driver, even though I am now ninety years old to support them both. I am lucky that I passed my drivers test that they make me do every year due to my age. Next time I think I may not pass because a few days ago, I was using my tow truck when I got a tremor and almost lost the car that I was trying to tow. Last year when I played Santa for the town's Christmas party, a bunch of teenagers were making fun of Santa having a heart-shaped birthmark and they had pushed me to the ground and my wife had to help me up”.
Terry’s wife Olivia, is the age of Eighty-five with gray wavy hair, who thinks her grandson is her son. In a different part of the house, she was muttering to herself, “I think Terry is smart, but I do not agree with him that I get confused. I think it is more that my son keeps interrupting me by asking me to do things for him and then I forget what I was doing before he interrupted me! Just like my husband I keep finding myself talking to people in french and then they do not understand me. Which reminds me, I better go to the drug store down the street because I forgot to go get some stuff earlier. I wish Terry would stop being Santa because these days there seems to be more and more kids that are getting into trouble and I am scared that Terry is going to get hurt again. Next time I may not be there to help him. Oh I better get supper cooked! Where did I put what I just got from the store? Oh right, I haven't gone yet! My back hurts, maybe I should take some of my pain medications.” Olivia grabbed her medications and forgot them in her hand.
There was a carpet of fallen leaves on the ground outside. Maskwa was on her way to Philippe place when she suddenly got pain and thought to herself “Oh boy there goes that pain again! I better take some more pain killers!” So she got some pills out of her coat and noticed that she only had one left and thought “Oh boy I am almost out of pills, what am I going to do now? Maybe I can find a drug store and get some more pills while I go trick-or-treating with Philippe.”
Tory unexpectedly joined Maskwa outside of Philippe’s grandparents' place. Maskwa didn’t know that Philippe invited Tory. She was hoping to have Philippe to herself tonight. They did not see Philippe in their normal meet up spot, so Maskwa thought “Well we can just go trick-or-treating at his place.” So she pushed the doorbell.
When the doorbell rang Olivia, with her hunched back, went to the door to hand out candy to the kids who had come to trick-or-treat. When she opened the door she saw two teenagers, one was dressed up as a bear and the other one she thought looked like Tory, but he was wearing a doctor's costume. Maskwa who looked like a bear said, “Trick-or-treat” and Tory asked “Where is Philippe? He texted us to go trick-or-treating with him.”
Olivia said “I think he’s home but I don’t know where” and yelled “Philippe! Your friends are here!”
Olivia dropped some candy into each of their bags. Olivia unknowingly dropped some of her pills into Maskwa’s bag. Philippe came from the back of the house and the three teenagers left down the road. After the teenagers had left, Olivia went on her way to the store. Meanwhile Ms. Sakwra, the teacher with no voice, got into her blue, two door car on her way home in a bad mood. Ms. Sakwra came to Mountain town as a child from Japan. She has black hair and is fifty years old. Ms. Sakwra kept thinking to herself, “Why does Philippe and the other children not call me by my real name! This is everyday this year I had someone call me speak-a-lot! I don’t think I speak more than I need to. I also can’t really say that I speak at all since I had cancer and had my voice box removed. I use technology to speak for me, so I am not the one doing the speaking. It's just this dumb computer! Which seems to quit on me at least once a day! Look at all the kids with their bags of candy! I wish that candy was never even invented! I know kids have to have fun but it seems to me that whenever Halloween comes I find that the children get into more trouble! How much worse can a day get? I better phone Philippe’s grandparents and let them know of the trouble he got into today! Maybe they can keep his candy away as a punishment! Why did I move to this town where it is foggy all the time! It seems to be worse when I am driving to, or home from work!”
Suddenly it got even more foggy and Ms. Sakwra had to slow down as she went through the town. When suddenly she saw an old lady with her walker crossing the road and Ms. Sakwra thought to herself “What a fool! She shouldn’t be out in this fog!” So Ms. Sakwra screeched her car to a stop and pulled over as fast as she could but the car hit a garbage can. The garbage can crashed over the sidewalk. The crash had made the car jerked to a stop and Ms. Sakwra hit her head on the steering wheel.
As Olivia was crossing the road, Olivia heard a big bang and turned quickly to see what made the sound. When she moved so fast she fell over and her walker rolled away from her with her oxygen tank that she needs to use when she goes for walks, and when it gets foggy in the evenings. With her walker out of reach and her oxygen tank no longer attached to her, she couldn’t get back up from the middle of the road by herself.
At that time the three teenagers were only two houses away from Philippe’s place, when they heard a crash behind them and turned to see a blue car hit a big garbage can. Maskwa and Philippe ran ahead as fast as they could to the car. Maskwa who got there first looked in the window of the car and to her surprise saw that it was their teacher that Philippe calls speak-a-lot. Maskwa was frozen in fear when she saw her teacher unconscious.
Philippe asked “What happened? Is everyone ok? Should I call someone for help?”
Maskwa yelled back “Speak-a-lot’s hurt and won't wake up! Her car hit something! Get help!”
Meanwhile, forty-five year old doctor Zuphixy, who had brown curly hair, was just having supper at home. He was happy to be able to rest before he had to do an evening shift at the hospital, until he heard some yelling down the street that there was a woman who seemed to be hurt. So doctor Zuphixy jumped into his wheelchair and went to see what was going on. When doctor Zuphixy got outside he saw Maskwa in a car that had crashed. And then he saw Troy in his wheelchair wheeling his way to Maskwa. Next, doctor Zuphixy saw an old lady lying on the road and thought to himself, “Maybe she got hit by the car”. So doctor Zuphixy went to check on the old lady. On his way to the old lady he saw Philippe on his cell phone. Zuphixy confirmed with Maskwa that Philippe had called nine one one for them. When doctor Zuphixy heard that nine one one was called, he went back home and got ready for work. He knew that he was going to get called in since doctor Zuphixy was the main doctor on call that evening. As doctor Zuphixy was getting ready he said to himself, “I was hoping for a shift at work where there wouldn’t be too many people who would need my help, but this does not make a good start for that.”
When Zuphixy got to the hospital, nurse Amina greeted Dr. Zuphixy. Amina was a fifty-five year old female with black straight hair, who was a refugee from Afghanistan. Amina got Post-traumatic stress disorder from the war, but since being a nurse here for the last ten years she has not let it stop her from doing her job. Zuphixy told Amina what happened just before he had left for work to which she said, “If anyone comes in here that looks like a war victim I may have to leave you.”
Jacklyn, a Nineteen year old woman from Jamaica, who has long black super curly hair and is a conjoined twin with her brother Jedyn. Jadyn has a spiked black Mohawk. They had gone to work as a nine one one operator, and were chatting to each other about if they should get surgery to be not joined anymore. Jedyn had said “I for one, wish that I was not joined to you because then I could do things that I like, instead of always having to do things together that we both like to do. For Example, I do not think I would be a nine one one operator, but it is your dream job. I only did it because we are joined by our lungs and the doctors we had when we were younger said that we both wouldn’t make it through the surgery! I love you so much and don’t want you to die just so that I can have my dream job of going to space.”
Jacklyn responded “I didn’t know that you didn’t like our job! If I had known that you felt that way then I would have given up my life so you could be happy! But I also think that even if we were to have the surgery there is a greater chance that you would die because of how we are attached. Then the whole point of doing the surgery would be lost, if in the end you die anyway.” Just then the phone rang and Jacklyn picked up and said, “Hello, this is nine one one, what is your emergency?”
Philippe responded by saying, “There is a lady unconscious in her car and there is another old lady unconscious on the road!”
Jacklyn said “What is the address of the emergency?”
Philippe responded by saying. “Nine hundred ninety-nine first street Mountain town”.
Jacklyn then said, “Okay, the emergency medical service are on their way, as well as the police. Are you hurt?”
Jedyn coughed in the background and Jacklyn gave her brother a finger because she was not happy that he had made any sound while she was on the phone. Some people get scared that they called the wrong number and think that it is not a private call.
Philippe responded, “No I’m not. Just the two women I told you about!”
Jacklyn said “Can you give me any more info? Like names or anything?”
Philippe responded, “Well because I blind I can only tell you that my friend yelled that the car is blue”. Then Philippe found out that the old lady on the road was his grandmother and yelled “Oh! no!”
Jacklyn said “What is it?”
Philippe responded, “I was just told that the old lady is my grandmother!”
Jacklyn said, “Oh I am sorry to hear that! We will do the best we can to help her”.
Jedyn mumbled in the background “Wish I could go get a beer”.
Jacklyn said “Emergency medical services are on their way. Have your friend keep traffic from hitting the old lady”.
After the phone call was over, their shift had ended. Jacklyn decided to make Jedyn stop complaining, so they went to a nearby bar where he could have a beer and she just had a glass of water.
Meanwhile some of the emergency medical service workers were being interviewed on the radio about their jobs and the challenges of doing it with their disabilities. Alcric, a thirty-five year old man with curly brown hair who is four hundred pounds. He was born with autism and was saying “We get to wait around a lot which I am not good with so I fill my time by playing chess with my co-worker, or play it on my cellphone. Today I am teaming up with Muhammad, a twenty-five year old, bi-gender from Bethlehem who also likes to play chess. I like to play with him because it is more fun than the internet. The thing I don’t like about working with him is that even when there is no need to drive fast, he seems to, which makes me scared! Whenever I tell him to slow down, he will for a moment, but then the next thing I know he is going fast again. Someone told me that means that he has a heavy foot.”
After Alcric was finished talking, it was Muhammad turn to be interviewed and he said “As Alcric said, I like to drive fast and I have been told hundreds of times that I have a heavy foot, but I like going fast. In my view it helps make me a good ambulance driver because I can get there faster and help people sooner! I learned to drive fast from the game “Need for speed” that I played as a young boy. My mother tried to stop me from playing that game and would say “They should have never made the game!” But here I am at twenty-five and I think that I am doing good with only eight speeding fines since I got my drivers license at Eighteen".
When the interview was over the Emergency medical service workers had to respond to a nine one one call about two women who were unconscious.
At that time Diego was working as a traffic reporter, and was flying a helicopter over the city looking for a news story for the Television. Diego, a forty-seven year old multi-gender person from Spain, who had violet curly hair that went down to their waist, turned the radio on and accidentally changed the station to the emergency medical service radio channel, and overheard that there was a car accident. When they heard about the accident, they flew the helicopter above the ambulance and followed it to where the car accident was.
As they got into the ambulance heading to the scene, Muhammad started to sing while he was driving and almost crashed into a mail truck. Which scared Alcric and he started to sway back and forth while he covered his ears, expecting the worst. But Muhammad managed to steer around the mail truck safely and ended up being the first emergency personnel at the crash-site. Meanwhile on the other side of town, Sebastian was sitting in a doughnut shop talking to someone who just learned Sebastion’s nickname. Sebastian is a forty-five year old man with black curly hair from Mexico, who was known as Officer Doughnut because he was overweight. Sebastion was saying “I know why they call me Officer Doughnut, it’s because everyday I eat one dozen doughnuts. I think you have to enjoy life and if sweets are what you enjoy, then have sweets! I just so happen to love sweets and I find that doughnuts are so filling. So I decided to use them for my lunch everyday.”
Now Sebastion had a hearing impairment. When his radio notified him of the two women who were unconscious, there were other sounds from the shop making it even harder for Officer Doughnut to hear the call properly. Sebastian had heard ninety-nine street instead of nine hundred ninety-nine street, so he thought “An old lady probably got robbed again!” So Sebastian decided to order two more dozen doughnuts before he would go. Sebastian was hoping that another officer would go so he wouldn’t have to. Sebastion was thinking “It’s not a real call! In fact it is most likely just a teen doing a prank since it is Halloween after all!”
A few minutes later Sebastian said, “Oh they gave me an update that there are two people that need my help! I guess I better go. It doesn’t look like there is going to be another officer that will go.”
So he jumped in his police car and drove to ninety-nine street. When he got there Sebastian found that there was no one there, so he confirmed if he got the right address with dispatch, and learned that he got it wrong! So he sped to the right address that he learned was actually nine hundred ninety-nine street. When Sebastian got to the right place he found that the ambulance was already at the scene. So he checked the scene to see if there was a crime. Sebastian saw something on the road a few feet away from the old lady. He couldn’t figure out what it was and thought, “I am so fat! I can not bend down to check what that is on the road! I am going to have to give Detective Zuri a call, maybe he can do a better job than I can! He is the best detective within a day's drive from here.”
Now Detective Zuri was a Fifty-five year old man from Africa with super curly black hair with dwarfism who liked to tell jokes. Even though Detective Zuri likes to tell jokes he doesn’t like it when someone else makes a joke about his size.
Sebastian made the phone call to Detective Zuri and said, “Hello, is this Detective Zuri?”
Detective Zuri said “Yes it is, what can I do for you, Officer Doughnut?”
Sebastian responded by saying, “Well, first of all… only the kids can call me Officer Doughnut!"
Detective Zuri apologized by saying “Sorry I was just trying to be funny.”
Sebastian said “Well the reason I called was to see if you can find out what this object on the road is. Because I can not bend down to get it, so I thought maybe if you're not busy you could help me.”
Detective Zuri said “So you think just because I am only three feet tall, that means I can just do your job for you!? Now just because you can’t bend down does not mean you can treat me like your son! I am a detective, not a kid that does anything for anyone! I make my living doing this job! So I am going to remind you that it will cost you fifty dollars per hour, so you should make it worth my time.”
Sebastian responded by saying, “Come on Zuri ,you know I won’t get you to do a job that I can do! I just think you are better at finding things out. Even if I was the same height as you I don't think I could do your job. So will you please help?”
Detective Zuri said, “Well okay, where do you want me to investigate?”
Sebastion responded by saying, “Nine hundred ninety-nine street.”
Detective Zuri said “Oh! Okay! That is only three houses away from my place, I will be right there”.
So Detective Zuri got on his bike and headed to where Sebastian was standing. On his way he thought to himself “I wish I was bigger so people would stop treating me like I am just a little kid who doesn’t know what he is doing!” When Zuri got there, he got off his bike and took out a stool from the bike's basket on the back. Zuri had a look at the object and then stood on the stool to be eye level with Sebastian. When he got up to tell Sebastion what the object was, he lost his balance and fell off the stool and landed on Troy’s lap. Troy just happened to be wheeling his wheelchair past Sebastian at that time. Detective Zuri got off of Troy’s lap. Then Sebastion made a joke about Troy’s lap being a “safety net”.
Detective Zuri got mad at Sebastian and said, “You know that ‘safety nets’ have not been used in years because they were deemed unsafe! So I don’t think you should be joking about something like that!”
Sebastion said, “Sorry, I was just joking around while we were waiting for the fire department to bring the ‘Jaws of Life’ to get that woman out of her car.”
Now the fire chief for the town was a transgender by the name of Rogeria. He was born a girl, and when she was a teenager she changed her gender to a boy. He is now thirty years old and is eight feet and nine inches tall. Rogeria has yellow hair that he grows long enough so he could have a ponytail. After changing genders he got tattoos on his muscled arms. He is also known around the town as an alcoholic who is also a drug dealer. He has been in trouble with the law a few times for drug dealing. The children of the town gave him the nickname of, “Waterworks” because he is a fire fighter who uses a hose eight feet above them.
Just then Rogeria walked up behind Detective Zuri, and because Rogeria is over eight feet tall, it seemed to Detective Zuri like the sun had set and he thought to himself, “Is it later than I thought?” But just then he saw a wine bottle fall beside him, which broke into small pieces. When Detective Zuri saw the bottle he realized that it was Rogeria, the fire chief, who had come to use the “Jaws of Life” on the blue car.
Rogeria, in his low voice that the young children would say sounded like thunder, said “How do you expect me to use the “Jaws of Life” when I am 8 feet tall?”
Just then Diego was leaning out of the helicopter’s window to see what he was reporting on better, when his wireless microphone slipped out of his hand and fell on Rogeria’s head. Luckily for Rogeria, he was wearing his firefighters helmet and he didn’t even know what happened until Tory had said “Waterworks, a microphone just hit you on the head!”
Rogeria said “Oh that's what that thud was! Thank you for letting me know!”
As Rogeria took a big drink of beer, Sebastian responded to what Rogeria had asked before the microphone had hit Rogeria, saying “Well I am Seven feet tall and Zuri is only three feet, so we are no help. Also, by law, firefighters are the only ones allowed to use the ‘Jaws of Life’. Seeing as you are the fire chief it is your job!”
Rogeria responded, “I know! But I wish that if you need the ‘Jaws of Life’ you could have another firefighter do it instead of me”.
While Rogeria was working on the car, Terry and Muhammad helped Olivia up. She walked in between them back to her house, since it was only a few houses down. Because she was only in shock, Olivia did not need to go to see Doctor Zuphixy. No one saw that she did not have her oxygen tank on her until they were back at Olivia’s place. When they realized that her oxygen tank was missing, Muhammad asked Alcric to get a new oxygen tank for Olivia, as there was no time to find out what had happened to it. So Alcric went to the pharmacy and got a new oxygen tank for Olivia while he waited for Rogeria to finish using the ‘Jaws of Life’.
After Rogeria was done using the ‘Jaws of Life’ to open the door of Ms. Sakwra’s blue two door car, Alcric and Muhammad safely got Ms. Sakwra out of her car and into the ambulance. Terry started to hook up Ms. Sakwra’s car to his tow-truck when he thought he was having another tremor.
Just then the ground shook. Diego was still flying above the town when he saw the road split in two along the middle line. He changed his mind about landing the helicopter to find his microphone. Rogeria screamed, “Earthquake of a magnitude three!!!” Rogeria had just got an alert on his smart watch about the earthquake as it was happening. The ground continued to shake for about 5 seconds leaving everyone stunned, except for Terry who just continued to work. Terry managed to hook the car up to his tow-truck and move it to safety just in time, before the oxygen tank had burst in flames. Diego saw the flames come up off the road and assumed that it was from the road splitting. Diego used his cellphone to report that the road had split in half to Kula. Kula is a sixty-six year old man who has been a Seismologist for most of his adult life. A seismologist is someone who studies earthquakes. Kula had come to Mountain town from South Korea in his teens. From first glance you would think that Kula was in a biker gang when you saw his orange ponytail, and leather jacket that he always wore, and his entire body covered in tattoos. Kula was born with a balance disorder but because of the way he sways when he walks people often mistake him for being drunk.
The town’s pharmacist was Felice. He’s a fifty-seven year old male with a long gray beard. He came from Italy a few years ago and was diagnosed with ADHD. Felice was in his store when he felt the store shaking and went outside to find out what was making everything shake. It was so foggy that he did not see anyone outside, but he heard Rogeria scream about an earthquake so he walked a bit further towards the crash site to get more information.
With Felice away from the store, Maskwa snuck into the pharmacy to get more pain killers. Maskwa noticed that the earthquake had shaken some of the pills off the shelf and she hoped that no one would notice one bottle missing since the place was now a mess. Since she has no arms she had to pull out her reacher/grabber tool from her backpack with her mouth to grab the pills from the shelf. When she tried to leave the pharmacy an alarm went off. The alarm let Felice know that someone has tried to shoplift something from his pharmacy.
Sebastion heard the alarm from the pharmacy and he ran there to find out what made the alarm go off. When Sebastion got to the pharmacy he learned from Felice that Maskwa had stolen some pain killers for the hundredth time. So to teach Maskwa not to steal again, Sebastion put Maskwa in handcuffs and took away all the pills that did not have her name on them. Sebastion found out that she also had pills with Olivia’s name on them. As well as what the ones she took from the pharmacy. Sebastion put Maskwa in his police car and took her home to her parents house. Sebastion took the hand cuff off before Maskwa’s parents saw that she was handcuffed.
While the earthquake happened Olivia was taking a rest on her sofa. The earthquake was so strong it shook her right off the sofa. Olivia screamed for help but Terry, Sebastion and Alcric had gone back to the car accident and no one could hear Olivia call for help.
Meanwhile Detective Zuri was studying ways that the oxygen tank could burst into flames. He decided that the earthquake shook the tank and it fell between chunks of road that split. This put too much pressure on the tank and caused it to explode.
Just as everyone thought they were safe from the earthquake, Rogeria saw smoke coming out of a mountain in the distance. She told Sebastion by his C.B. radio that it looks like the five thousand year old volcano was going to bust. Sebastion thought to himself that Rogeria was either high on drugs or drunk. So Sebastion asked Terry to confirm if it was the volcano, since Terry was going to tow the car in that direction anyway. While Sebastion was waiting for Terry to come back, Sebastion decided to tell everyone that there was smoke coming from the area of the old volcano and to be ready to evacuate once he heard back from Terry. This made a lot of people very anxious.
Diego also saw the smoke and flew the helicopter as close to the smoke as he dared, and found out to his relief that it was coming from a cabin in the mountains. Diego took a picture from the helicopter and sent it to Terry with the caption “Does this look like a volcano?” The smoke was coming from a cabin’s chimney. Terry forwarded the picture to Sebastion who stopped panicking long enough to read the text before his face went beat red. Sebastion felt like a fool for alerting everyone to a false emergency. Now Sebastion had to go back to everyone on the street and let them know it was a false alarm and that they could go back to whatever they had planned for the day, which some of the people were not happy about.
Terry, knowing that it is not a volcano, kept going towards the smoke to John’s Mechanic shop. By the time he got to the shop it should have been closed for hours, but Terry and John are cousins and John agreed to look at any car that Terry would tow to him. John told Terry that it would take two weeks to fix the car because he would have to order a part. Now only a few people knew about John because his shop was high in the mountains away from the town. John had a very long beard and hair that looked like it had not been cut for months. John was always very dirty and his clothes looked as if he had them on for years with all the holes in them. By looking at him it was pretty obvious that he is homeless. John also had a complete absence of his nose.
Meanwhile Philippe and Tory went back to Philippe’s place after trick or treating a bit more. Tory saw Philippe’s grandmother asleep on the floor and realized that she must have fallen off the sofa. Philippe, even though he was blind, managed to help his grandmother off the floor with a little help from Tory who talked him through what to do.
With Ms. Sakwra now in the hospital, Dr. Zuphixy called Francis in to do an X-ray. The X-ray showed that Ms. Sakwra’s arm was broken badly from the accident. Dr. Zuphixy told Ms. Sakwra that she will need surgery, a cast, and that she will be in pain for a while. Dr. Zuphixy also told her that she will have to stay home from work for the next few weeks because it would be unsafe for Ms. Sakwra to drive and care for anyone while on pain killers. Ms. Sakwra’s voice synthesizer had been left in her car so she had to rent one from the hospital for as long as she had to stay in the hospital.
By the time Terry got home it was midnight and Philippe and Olivia had gone to bed. Terry did not know that Olivia had fallen off the sofa but Terry did see that Olivia had a new oxygen tank. Terry knew that the oxygen tank was new because this model was different and the tank looked cleaner and newer then he remembered the old tank looking. The new tank also had the newest technology in it.
When everyone got up the next day there was one foot of fresh snow on the ground and it was Saturday which meant that there was no school. Philippe didn’t know it had snowed because he was blind, so he went out to go skateboarding. He was shocked when his feet fell through the snow, so he ended up going back into his grandparent’s place. Philippe got upset and mad that he could not go skateboarding. He texted Maskwa to see if she could hang out with him but because she had stolen the drugs the day before she was not allowed out of her house for the weekend. This made Philippe even more mad so he slammed his phone down on the table so hard it cracked. In a bad mood Philippe stormed out of the house on his way to the store to get a new phone. But because he was in a bad mood, Philippe wasn’t paying attention and he almost got hit by a car. Luckily for him the car was going slow and pulled over just in time.
Tory was also upset that he could not go to the park with Philippe due to the snow, but thought maybe they could hang out together at his place instead. Tory tried calling Philippe a few times and was shocked when he could not get a hold of him.
After Maskwa told Philippe she wasn't allowed to hangout this weekend, she got very upset and decided to take a handful of various pills with hopes that that would end all her pain. Just then Courtney, a twenty seven year old woman with rainbow hair, who has Obsessive–compulsive disorder came to the door. Maskwa forgot that her support worker Courtney was coming today. Courtney came into Maskwa’s bedroom to help her get ready for breakfast and found Maskwa unconscious with a few pill bottles beside her. Courtney phoned nine one one.
Jacklyn picked up the phone and said “Hello, nine one one, what is your emergency?”
Courtney replied “I came to take care of Maskwa and I think she overdosed on some medication!”Jacklyn said “What is the address of the emergency?”Courtney responded “One Thousand first street Mountain town!”
Jacklyn said “Use a naloxone kit if you have one and just stay calm. Emergency medical services are on their way.”
Alcric and Muhammad were the EMS workers who responded to this call. On the way to the call, Muhammad ran though five red lights to get to Maskwa’s place and then sped straight to the hospital.
Dr. Zuphixy was at the hospital and pumped the drugs out Maskwa’s stomach. He then had Francis do some blood work to find out what kind of drugs Maskwa has taken. Now whenever Francis smelled blood she gagged and today it seemed like she was gagging more than usual. She had to keep walking away from Maskwa to stop herself from throwing up. Just as Francis was done with Maskwa, Francis was thinking “I hope I don’t have to see too many people that need blood tests today” when, in walked Rogeria and said "Sebastian wants me to get a blood test to see how much alcohol I have in my system.”
When Maskwa passed Rogeria in the doorway he slipped her some street drugs without anyone seeing them. Just as Maskwa was thinking she got away with it and that she could take them without anyone seeing her, another doctor walked by and noticed that she was taking pills that he did not give her. This doctor took the pills away from Maskwa and noticed that it wasn’t just normal pain killers but was in fact street drugs.
Rogeria saw that Maskwa had been caught, so he pretended that he did not know Maskwa and started joking with Francis that they could be a couple for how often he had seen her in the last month. Francis groaned and said, “How many times are you going to make me do a blood test on you before you realize how your drinking affects other people”, as Francis poked Rogeria. Then suddenly Francis threw up all over Rogeria’s firefighters uniform.
Meanwhile the plow trucks came and Tory decided to go to the mall to see if he could find some new earrings for himself. At the Mall, Tory was passing the food court when he saw Philippe. So he went up to him and asked him why he did not pick up his phone. Philippe explained that he had a bad day and that his phone had broke.
Just then the fire alarm went off and Tory wanted to get out of the mall as fast as they could, but Philippe thought it was just someone pulling the alarm as a prank. Philippe tried to go to the cellphone store anyway. Philippe was trying desperately to get himself a new phone but because the fire-alarm had gone off, all of the stores in the mall had to be evacuated. This meant that Philippe ended up having to go outside like everyone else.
About Fifteen minutes later, Rogeria got to the mall and found that one of the restaurants in the food court had a fire in their oven, which he put out quickly. Everyone looked at Rogeria funny when he showed up to the call because his firefighters uniform was still covered in Francis’s vomit. Once he got the fire out, he phoned Sebastion and told him what had happened. Sebastion decided to call Detective Zuri to check out the restaurant together to make sure that there wasn’t a crime.
Detective Zuri and Sebastion both got to the mall and went in to check it out. You're probably wondering why a police officer needs to call a detective for every little call, but Sebastion and Detective Zuri have been friends for a long time. Sebastion has been under a lot of pressure at work and doesn't want to do his job wrong after that happened last time. Just the thought of that stressed Sebastion out so bad that he suddenly had a heart attack and Detective Zuri had to phone nine one one.
Jacklyn picked up the phone and said “Hello this is nine one one, what is your emergency?”
Detective Zuri said “I think Sebastion is having a heart attack!”
Jacklyn said “What is the address of the emergency?”
Detective Zuri responded “Five Hundred first street Mountain town!”
Alcric and Muhammad were the Emergency medical service workers that got sent again, but this time Alcric did the driving. Now Alcric was a slower driver than Muhammad but was still fast enough to respond to the emergency that is time sensitive.
Muhammad kept saying “If I were driving we would be there sooner! You are too slow to be an ambulance driver!”
At the hospital Sebastion got checked over by Doctor Zuphixy, who said to Sebastion, “Yes, you had a small heart attack. If you quit your job as police and find a different job that is not so stressful you could live a longer life or if you would bring your weight down..”
Sebastion said “I don’t like either of your options, but I will try to get my weight down since giving up my job at forty-five is not an option for me.”
Doctor Zuphixy replied, “okay let’s start you on a diet and I will see you in three months to see if your weight has gone down by then.”
Meanwhile, Maskwa had gone into the pharmacy and stole some more pain killers. Just like last time, she had to hold a ‘Reacher Grabber’ in her mouth to get the pills off the shelf. When she left the pharmacy, the alarm went off letting Felice know that someone had tried to shoplift again. As Maskwa was running out Felice tried to scare Maskwa by telling her that “If you keep taking all the drugs you steal you are going to die or be in more pain than the pain killers are meant to help!”
Maskwa jokingly said, “Well maybe that’s what I want to do!”
When Felice heard what Maskwa had said, he ran after her, pinned her to the ground and took the drugs from her. He also made sure she had no other pills on her or anything else that she could hurt herself with.
Just then Detective Zuri walked by and saw Felice laying on top of Maskwa and thought that Felice was doing something wrong. Detective Zuri yelled at Felice to get off of her. So Felice did as Detective Zuri had said, and Maskwa ran away as fast as she could towards the Fire Hall. Maskwa knew that Rogeria was a drug dealer and wanted him to give her some more pills.
Once Maskwa was far enough away that she couldn’t hear Felice talking, Felice told Detective Zuri his side of what had happened. When Detective Zuri learned that Maskwa was having problems with drugs, and that she looked like she was headed towards the fire hall, he ran as fast as he could after her. Detective Zuri knew that Rogeria, the fire chief, was a drug dealer and wanted to catch Rogeria giving Maskwa the drugs. When Maskwa and Detective Zuri got to the fire hall it was closed and no one was there, which was a relief for Detective Zuri.
Now Maskwa didn’t see Detective Zuri and was getting upset that she could not get any drugs. Maskwa started kicking stones around and almost hit Detective Zuri, but he quickly hid behind a tree. The stone bounced off the tree and hit Maskwa in the gut and she screamed in pain, fell over and hit her head on the sidewalk. When Detective Zuri saw that Maskwa was unconscious he called nine one one.
Jacklyn picked up the phone and said “Hello, nine one one, what is your emergency?”
Detective Zuri told Jacklyn what had been happening. Jacklyn said “What is the address of the emergency?”
Detective Zuri responded “Nine hundred and ninety-nine first street Mountain town.”
Jacklyn said “Okay, Emergency medical services are on their way.”
Again Alcric and Muhammad were the E.M.S workers that got sent. This time Muhammad had gone through another red light to get to where Maskwa and Detective Zuri were. Just as Alcric and Muhammad had almost got Maskwa into the Ambulance, she gave them a kick. Maskwa tried to run away from the Ambulance, yelling “I don’t want to go!” All of a sudden Rogeria showed up and blocked Maskwa’s exit. Rogeria said “Since you are only fourteen years old, they have to take you to the hospital to get checked out unless your parents say otherwise! This is not your choice so stop!” Maskwa didn’t want her parents to find out what she was doing and insisted that her parents don’t find out about the drugs. Maskwa listened to Rogeria and went to the hospital to have a doctor make sure she didn’t get a concussion when she hit her head. After Rogeria saw what happened to Maskwa, he checked himself into a drug and alcohol treatment centre. He stayed there until he no longer had a drug or alcohol problem.
When they got to the hospital Doctor Zuphixy was there, but he was having spasms so he had nurse Amina do the examination under his direction. They determined that Maskwa was okay. Doctor Zuphixy told Maskwa that he has to tell her parents about her drug use, to which she screamed “No!” and ran out of the hospital crying. Maskwa ran right into Terry, Philippe's grandfather, who was coming to the hospital to get his tremors checked. Now Terry does not like sad kids so when he saw that Maskwa was crying he started singing with his Santa voice “You better watch out, you better not cry, You better not pout, I'm telling you why! Santa Claus is coming to town. He's making a list and checking it twice. He's gonna find out who's naughty and nice. Santa Claus is coming to town. He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good. So be good for goodness' sake.”
By the time Terry was done the song Maskwa was laughing at Terry’s Santa voice.
When Terry saw that Maskwa was happy again he went on his way to see doctor Zuphixy, and Maskwa went home scared of what her parents would do when they found out that she had stolen more drugs.
When Terry got to Doctor Zuphixy, they chatted about how he would have to quit his job if his tremors kept going. Terry was scared that he could not afford to quit his job since he was caring for Philippe and his wife, Olivia, who did not have a job anymore because of her own health issues. After the chat, Terry, dissatisfied with the outcome, agreed that he and Olivia would have no other choice but to go into a care-home as soon as possible.
When Terry got home, he phoned around to find out what care-home would take him and Olivia. But because Olivia has dementia, he was having a hard time finding a place. At that time, Olivia had gone outside into the backyard thinking she had gone into the bathroom. She got undressed to take a shower, when Felice, who had just come home from work, saw Olivia naked in her backyard. Felice convinced her that she was outside instead of her bathroom, which embarrassed her. Philippe overheard Terry on the phone looking for a care home. Philippe knew that meant that he would have to also move into a group home, which upset him. So Philippe ran out of the house and all the way to Maskwa’s place. When Philippe got there, Maskwa was in her room crying and talking to herself saying “I’m in so much pain and everyone took away all my pain killers, because they think I have a drug problem. What is a person supposed to do if they are in as much pain as I am!”
Philippe walked into her room and gave Maskwa a hug. He offered her some marijuana to smoke but she was scared that her parents would find out and then she would be in even bigger trouble. Maskwa continued to cry, Philippe tried to comfort her again but this time Maskwa pulled away and told Philippe “Just leave me alone!”
Seeing as Maskwa just wanted to be by herself, Philippe decided to go to the skate park without his skateboard. He sat there and smoked some marijuana until Sebastion came up to him. Philippe pulled out his cannabis prescription to prove that he was legally allowed to smoke marijuana. Sebastion ignored the smell and said “You should go home because it is getting late and I don’t think it’s safe for someone your age to be by yourself outside at this time of the day”. So Philippe went back to his grandparent’s place and went to bed without saying anything to them.
Meanwhile Maskwa had cried herself to sleep without knowing if her parents had heard from Doctor Zuphixy or not.
In a different part of the town, Tory’s parents had noticed that he had been skipping supper almost every night for the last month. Tory’s parents were getting worried that something was wrong with him. They were trying to get to the bottom of why Tory was skipping meals when he fainted, which scared his parents. So they took him to the hospital where they told Doctor Zuphixy that Tory had been skipping meals a lot in the last month and that he fainted in front of them. Doctor Zuphixy knew that it was most likely an eating disorder but did not want to upset Tory and risk making it worse. So Doctor Zuphixy gave Tory an I.V of sugar water to help get his blood sugar up. This was to prevent Tory from fainting again. Doctor Zuphixy then went into the hall with Tory’s parents so Tory could not hear them, when he told Tory’s parents that it was most likely caused by an eating disorder.
The next day was Sunday and everyone from town had gone to church where Christopher, a forty-one year old man with Bipolar disorder, was giving a sermon. When suddenly everyone felt the ground shake. At first they thought it was another earthquake so everyone took cover under the church pews. When the shaking stopped Sebastion went outside to see how bad things were, and was shocked to see a bulldozer pushing down the last home on that street.
Sebastion went back into where everyone else was and told them what he had seen. Everyone was shocked to hear this and went outside in a panic. Diego wanted to get a better look at the situation so he went to the news building and got into his helicopter. He flew over the town to find out what had all been bulldozed. To Diego’s surprise, he found that all the houses in town were bulldozed. The only parts of town that were still standing were the Church, Pharmacy, the Mall, the Hospital, the News Building and the only Motel. Diego relayed the news back to everyone when he landed next to the church. Everyone was shocked by what Diego had said. They chatted to each other about what they should do now since no one had a place to stay except for the only motel in town. The motel was just big enough if some of the families shared a room. Sebastion went to the motel and asked the receptionist to book all of the rooms and found out that all of the rooms were booked already. This made Sebastion think that the motel was full from a soccer tournament that weekend. The receptionist was a sixty-nine year old woman with black straight hair. She was born with muscular dystrophy and came from the Philippines at a young age.
The receptionist said “The rooms were already booked for any resident of the town that had their house bulldozed and that it will not cost them anything as long as they can prove that they live in the town.”
That afternoon the town had a meeting to decide what they should do now that all of their homes are gone. Each person only had what they took to church that morning and people were at a loss with the whole situation. Sebastion told everyone that they are welcome to stay at the motel and that was booked for everyone. So the whole town checked into the motel, and they were stunned to find each room was set up for their own individual disability needs.
Terry was a bit scared now that they were living in the motel that Olivia’s Dementia would get worse. He still had not found a care home where they both could be together. Olivia just thought that Terry had taken her on a holiday. After a few weeks, Olivia kept asking, “When are we going to go home? How can we pay to stay here for so long?” At first, Terry pretended that they were on a holiday that his boss was paying for, but as the weeks passed it was getting harder to pretend that they were on a holiday. Then one day Terry decided to take Olivia to where their house used to be. He was hoping that it would make Olivia understand why they were still in the motel. But after that, she kept asking to see their house everyday.
Now Tory was sitting in the motel room, still upset that the bulldozer had wrecked his video games. So he took a book out of his school bag called “The mysterious wheelchair” and read it.
As the weeks went by, some of the townspeople were getting upset that they had to stay in the motel for so long. The people were getting mad at Sebastion and believed that he knew ahead of time that the bulldozer was going to wreck their town, and they blamed Sebastion for not saving the town.
Then one day a few of those people cornered Sebastion and beat him up so badly that Sebastion had to go to the hospital. Alcric and Muhammad walked out of the hotel to start their shift when they saw Sebastion beat up and laying on the ground. They helped Sebastion into the back of the ambulance that was stationed at the Motel and took him to the Hospital. Meanwhile Doctor Zuphixy was stitching up Sebastion wounds. Zuphixy was having a hard time doing the stitches because he kept having spasms. Nurse Amina kept getting flashbacks from the war when she saw how badly Sebastion was hurt, and had to leave the room to keep her panic attack under control.
Rogeria was still at the alcohol treatment centre when the town was bulldozed. He was surprised that on his first day back in town he had to witness Sebastion being put in an Ambulance. Rogeria decided to help Detective Zuri find out why Sebastion had been beaten up.
Even after Maskwa’s family was forced to live in the motel like everyone else in town, she still found ways to go to the pharmacy and steal pills at least once a week. It seemed like it got even easier when Sebastion had been beaten up. Even though she did not like to see Sebastion go to the hospital.
Across town at the mall, Ms. Sakwra was testing out a new voice synthesizer because she didn’t know what had happened to her old one. Her battery in her last one was not holding a charge anymore anyways, but this new one she found can last up to a week. Sakwra was excited to finally have a voice she can rely on.
John had found Ms. Sakwra’s old voice synthesizer that was left in her car. He tried to get a hold of Terry but couldn’t, so all he could do was hope that Terry would be coming for a visit to the shop soon.
Just then Kula came into the motel and said that the motel would have to be evacuated. He said he got a notification that in the next hour there will be another earthquake and it will most likely be bigger than the last one. So everyone packed up as quickly as they could and left the area as fast as their vehicles would let them go.
This time John’s Mechanic shop was also at risk from the earth quake, so he went into the town for the first time in twenty years and joined Kula at the motel while it was being evacuated. Everyone followed Kula as he was the only one who knew where they could go to stay safe. Kula told them to take the road going south because that would lead them away from where Kula thought the earth quake would be.
Kula knew that Mountain Town wouldn’t be able to handle another natural disaster and this time he was ready. Kula led everyone beyond the mountains and to a brand new town. Kula drove right up to a fancy new apartment building that he had arranged ahead of time to be a Christmas gift for the town’s people. The Apartment building had a sign that said “For Rent To Anyone That Has A Disability.”
Next to the door of the apartment stood a six foot tall, thirty year old man named Finn, who looked like a bouncer. Finn had come from Ireland when he was eight years old. Kula had met Finn when he was in school years ago. Most people didn’t know it by looking at him but he also has Crohn’s Disease. When everyone got out to take a better look at where Kula had taken them, the giant man by the door said “Hi, Kula, is this the people you told me about, who had their town bulldozed?”
Kula said “Yes, but there are a few people that are also in the hospital. Do you have places for everyone to live as I asked?”
Finn said, “Well this whole apartment building, which is three hundred units, are all yours. As well as all the houses on this street, and any house to the south of here. Each unit is assigned to each person as you requested.”
Kula announced to the townspeople “Happy Early Christmas Everyone! Now please find your names on the door of your new homes!”
The townspeople each found their new homes and were so overjoyed to find that the new places were all set up perfectly for each person's individual disability. They were not just happy to find a place to live, but happy that they have a special home that helps them in the specific ways they need it. With a bit of help from the lady at the insurance company, Kula managed to get his hands on everyone's insurance claims from when the town got bulldozed. With those lists he was able to have everything replaced for each person in their new homes. The townspeople also found the newest technology that they had been wishing for that is meant to help with their disabilities.
John, who used to be homeless and living in other people's cars that he worked on, got the fanciest house in town and was treated like a king. The house came fully furnished and had everything he could ever want. John had a garage attached to his massive mansion of a house that was right full of brand new tools and a sign that said “John’s Mechanic Shop”. Olivia had gone into the brand new Care Home that was made specifically for someone with Dementia. Her husband Terry got an apartment in a nearby apartment building so he could walk across the road to see her. Which at the time seemed to be the best option for both of them.
As the first couple weeks went by, Terry slowly got depressed because his wife was forgetting him more and more everyday. Terry had to keep reminding himself that it was for the best, as he would not be able to take care of her anymore at his age anyways.
When Sebastion finally got out of the hospital, he didn’t know that the earthquake had happened or that the motel had been evacuated. So when he left the hospital and went back to the motel, he was shocked to find that is was abandoned and ruined. Sebastion thought to himself, “Where am I going to stay now?” He decided to go back to the hospital and see if Zuphixy knew what had happened. Zuphixy told Sebastion that there was another earthquake that ruined the motel. He explained that everyone in the motel was safe because they all moved to another town just in time. Sebastion took a ride to that town with Zuphixy when his shift ended, as he was going there anyway. Sebastion was scared that there would be no place left for him. Sebastion looked around the new town for a while before finding his new place right next to the doughnut shop. This made “Officer Doughnut” very happy. He was astonished to find all his stuff inside.
Now in this new town, you had to take a car or a bus for an hour to get to the nearest pharmacy. Maskwa’s parents found out that she was abusing drugs and decided to prevent her from having access to them. Maskwa’s Parents also made sure that she had no access to money either so she could not take the bus. This way she could not steal anymore drugs.
After a few weeks of Maskwa not being able to get the drugs she wanted, she decided that she was going to run away. She wanted to find somewhere that she could get away with having the drugs that she felt she needed to keep her pain down. Maskwa knew that Courtney would be there in a couple hours to help her so she left a note for Courtney on her bed. The note read “I don’t need your help today, just go home please.. -Maskwa.”
Maskwa packed her school backpack with some food and other items she thought she might need. She also dressed as warm as she could without being too obvious that she was about to run away. Maskwa pretended that she was going to school but instead of going to school she just walked out of town. Maskwa kept going hoping that no one would notice her gone. Since everyone in this new town were new to the school it was easier for Maskwa to leave undetected. Being that it was winter she did not get very far before she started to get cold and had to find somewhere to warm up.
Diego happened to be flying his helicopter over top of where Maskwa was walking. He saw that Maskwa wasn’t dressed very warm and was a ways out of town alone. Diego landed his helicopter in front of Maskwa and then convinced her that she should go for a ride with him so she would not freeze to death. Maskwa begged him not to take her back to her parents.
Diego said “Unless you have another place to live with someone that is at least eighteen years old, I have no choice but to take you back to your parents! I’m sorry but it’s the law and they really do care about you!”
Diego landed his helicopter in front of the apartment building to Maskwa’s disappointment. Diego said, “I don’t mean to upset you, but I also live in this apartment building and I have to grab something from inside. I am giving you a choice: you can either go back to your loving parents or you can just run away again and freeze to death.” Now Maskwa did not want Diego to get into trouble and she did love her parents too, so she reluctantly decided that she would go back home.
Philippe went to hangout with Maskwa after school and heard from her parents that Maskwa had ran away. This made Philippe upset because she is a close friend and he also likes her. Philippe smoked some marijuana before he went streaking the halls of the Apartment building. While he was running around he kept yelling “Why did Maskwa have to run away? I love her and now who knows when I will hear from her again”. Ms. Sakwra was one of the people living in the apartment building at the time. She was in the hallway when Philippe streaked past her which she was not happy with. She thought to herself, “What an idiot that Philippe is!”
Ms. Sakwra went on her way down the hall. She was going to go grab a late night snack but decided to tell Philippe’s grandfather that she saw Philippe streaking first. Philippe’s grandfather seemed to not care and said “Whatever! I can’t stop him! What’s done is done!”. Philippe didn’t know that his teacher had seen him streaking since Philippe is blind and was running really fast. Too fast to notice someone unless they had said something. As he was in the last hall he unknowingly ran right into Maskwa and they both fell over. Maskwa had just got back to the apartments with Diego. Diego had to help both Philippe and Maskwa up. When they collided Maskwa fell right on top of Philippe. Philippe was so excited to have run into the one person he was searching for.
By the time Maskwa had returned home it was late at night. Maskwa lied to her parents and said “I got lost in this new town and could not find my way back so Diego found me and took me back home” After that Maskwa’s parents kept a close eye on her and had Courtney come to the home to escort Maskwa to school everyday. They did this so Maskwa would not be able to run away again.
Today was Tory’s eighteenth birthday and Tory celebrated after school by going sky diving in a wind-tunnel that was in the mall in the new town.
On new years eve, Jacklyn and Jedyn went to hospital to have their separation surgery done. Jacklyn was very annoyed with her brother for making noises at work which made her make mistakes that could end with other people dying. She also didn’t want to lose her job and Jedyn did not want that to happen either. They both decided they would be so much better off separated. After a ten hour separation surgery Jacklyn and Jedyn both made it though, which made everyone involved euphoric. Jacklyn and Jedyn both looked out the window after the surgery and saw the most beautiful sight.
Philippe hated the holidays the most because he could only hear all the other people cheering in excitement and hear the pops of fireworks, which startled him. Since he was blind he could not see the fireworks that Rogeria put on every new year’s eve. Everyone had stayed up late that night playing board games, which Philippe also could not do because it is hard to play a board game when you can not see the game.
So instead of celebrating new-years with everyone, Philippe went to his room and put on an Elvis CD. He pulled out his school assignment that was due the next day. It read “What is your favourite holiday and why?” Philippe thought to himself “Well definitely not New Years and last Christmas was both the best and the worst time of the year, but my favourite holiday is Halloween…”
