How Many Mysterious Wheelchairs are there?
Chapter 3: Miss Quzefuly get caught by Oidohombres (Ear men)
One day Miss Quzefuly was in Purpleten’s house by herself when some Oidohombres snuck up behind her and kidnapped her. At first she did not know what had happened. She was not prepared for anyone grabbing her like they did. Because everyone had said the Ear men had been gone for years, she had no warning that there was a risk of being kidnapped.
When the Earmen had kidnapped Ms Quzefuly, they blindfolded her so she wouldn’t know where they would take her. When they had removed the blindfold she found herself in what looked like an old prison cell with no widows.
If you read The Mysterious Wheelchair, you know how they had kidnapped Zuphixy and how he had escaped with Purpleten. As Miss Quzefuly was here by herself with no understanding of why or who would have kidnapped her, she had no hope of ever being free again.
At that time, Purpleten and her son got home from a fun day out together. The first thing Purpleten saw were foot prints… Or should I say ear prints, from the Oidohombres going everywhere in Purpleten’s house. At first Purpleten
thought that her son had walked through the house with muddy feet, but he pointed out that they looked like ears! Which scared Purpleten, because that meant Earmen were back for the first time since she last saw Zuphixy. Purpleten thought “If the Oidohombres are back, who knows what trouble they will bring!”
At first Purpleten thought “Did I make a mistake by letting that lady stay with us? Is she who she said she is or is she an Oidohombre dressed up as a wheelchair?!”
Zoofixy Jr. pointed out to his mother that in the room that Miss Quzefuly was staying in, it looked like someone had a fight! There was a big mess and there were ear prints everywhere. Which made him think that Miss Quzefuly was in trouble. After a while of processing the mess, Purpleten agreed with her son. So she went to the police to let them know that a new wheelchair who had been staying with them, had been kidnapped by the Oidohombres. She showed the police photos of the ear prints as proof. At first the police thought that it was impossible, because it was understood that the Earmen could never return after they had disappeared back when Zuphixy was around.
Meanwhile in the secret hideout, the Oidohombres were trying to get Miss Quzefuly to tell them how they can get the heart shaped flowers back. Now Miss Quzefuly did not know that the Earmen had a hearing problem, and kept trying to tell them that, from what she heard it, would be impossible as the flowers had been bulldozed to make room for new homes. Because the Oidohombres did not understand what she was saying, all it did was just make the Oidohombres angrier. Miss Quzefuly suddenly realized that the Earmen could not hear her even though it looked like they had ears everywhere she looked. So she finally gave up on talking to them.
Suddenly the Oidohombres left her tied up and said that they would be back with some food for her in a few hours. While the Oidohombres were away, they told the city council that Miss Quzefuly could only be free if the city gave the Oidohombres back their heart shaped flowers.
After the Earmen left, Miss Quzefuly tried to see if she could free herself. She knew that if she did not get free she most likely would die here. From what she understood from what Purpleten told her, it seemed impossible for the Oidohombres to ever get their flowers back. Miss Quzefuly tried so hard to get free she had made herself exhausted and she fell asleep.
As the Earmen were interrogating Miss Quzefuly, Mr Stripe, the police chief of Silla-Tierra was surprised to hear that the Oidohombres were around again. He only believed Purpleten after he had seen for himself the proof that it was the Earmen. To not scare all the people in the city, Mr Stripe decided he would start a search for Miss Quzefuly without informing them. When the people on the street saw the police doing the search for Miss Quzefuly, it scared them anyway. As the days went by more and more people heard the news that the Oidohombres were back. They started to spread rumors that were not true about Earmen. One rumor was that they were going to kill all the living wheelchairs that left their houses. Another rumor was that they were going to take over the city council. A third rumor, they had got Zoofixy junior to start all the fires for them. Some younger people even started to think that maybe when Zuphixy was there all these years ago that he was an Earman.
Even though the rumors were not true, some of the living wheelchairs were so scared they would not leave their homes, even when they ran out of food. The few people that did go out had guns with them. They had the idea that they would shoot any Oidohombres that they saw. As time went by, more and more living wheelchairs got over their fear of going out. Some decided that maybe someone just made up the story that the Earmen had come back.
